ABOUT
THE COURSE
18 hole & 9 HOLE
THE COURSE
Golf School UK is based at Sedlescombe Golf Club and incorporates an 18-hole (par 72) ‘ Great Wood’ course as well as a 9 hole par 3 ‘Little Wood’ course.
Both courses nestle within an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty within the heart of 1066 country, and are surrounded by Battle Great Wood. With a number of feature holes based around stunning woodland, lakes and ponds, the 27 holes blend perfecting into their natural surroundings.
18 hole (PAR 72)
The picturesque 18-hole course is the perfect environment to progress your game, whatever your ability level. The lakes, ponds, bunkers and woodland on the 6,269 yard, par 72 course offer a challenge to the scratch golfer, whilst the average golfer will enjoy a variety of long and short par 4’s in one of the prettiest corners of England.
The opening hole is one of the toughest par 4′s on the course measuring 419 yards, playing straight into the predominant wind with bunkers and a water hazard surrounding the green.
Two par 5′s back to back, the 4th and 5th are a good opportunity for birdies. These holes are followed by a tough stretch of par 4 fours including the 6th, 8th and 9th all measuring near to or over 400 yards. The 9th is the signature hole. It plays downhill with a dogleg to the left. Two ponds protect the green with any short approach shots ending up in the water.
The back nine is more about accuracy than power. It only measures 2,839 yards but there is little opportunity for the driver as narrow fairways and small greens mean any wayward shots will be punished. The course ends with a risk and reward par 5. At 492 yards it is well in range of two shots for the big hitters. However with out of bounds down both sides, it is a risky play with a driver.
9 HOLE (PAR 3)
The Par 3 Course features a variety of interesting holes ranging in length From 90 – 180 yards, and is by no means a simple pitch and putt. With an assortment of holes featuring sand traps, tiered greens and undulating approaches, it makes an ideal stepping stone into the world of golf for beginners, but also provides a unique challenge to golfers of a higher ability.
As golf school students you will benefit from free access to the courses during your stay, ideal if you are on a half day school as the other half of your day can be spent here practising new techniques.
