As a regular player on the Par 3 I have a few comments and suggestions. 1. RATE OF PLAY. As I mentioned in an earlier post there is a serious problem with slow play. It is not uncommon for often large groups to play very slowly, chat leisurely on the tees, fill in score cards and chat on the green before leaving it, and other similar things. All too often these groups will not have the courtesy to invite faster players behind to play through. I suggested a prominent notice at the first tee to address this but as far as I know it has not been considered by management. 2. LENGTH OF ROUGH. This is also a very large factor in the slow play problem, as a large amount of time can be spent, often fruitlessly, looking for balls in the rough, even at the edges ( and I do include myself here, I readily admit). For a course where directional accuracy is so very important, I feel much of the rough is far too long, especially close to fairways, and for me at least this detracts from the enjoyment of play. 3. DEDICATED CARD FOR PAR 3 COURSE. It would be very useful for both new and regular players to have a dedicated card for the Par 3 with lengths etc and also some simple rules of etiquette which may help with the problems mentioned earlier. I would appreciate if these points could be considered. I do appreciate that the primary concern of the club is the main course but nevertheless the Par 3 is an important component and I fear it may be in danger of developing a 'pitch-and-putt' ethos.
