August 22nd 2011 – From the Coaching TeamWell, we made it to the summer holidays with the goals we had agreed with the committee for the season achieved. These were to continue the format of club night coaching and add junior coaching and any other sessions that the members were interested in.
Club night ran successfully through the summer season for twenty weeks from April 7th to August 18th with attendance averaging just over 5 every week and only two sessions rained off!
Junior Coaching on Saturdays began as an open invite to all age groups to guage interest and was then streamlined into the sessions currently advertised, with regular attendees for the Tiny Tots, Mini Red and Mini Orange sessions. Junior Coaching ran for fourteen weeks from April 9th to July 23rd – the numbers grew steadily as word got around that the children were enjoying themselves and learning a lot too. Some of the players then went on to take part in the highly successful Amherst LTC Junior Summer Camps which got their holidays off to a cracking start!
New sessions that stuck were the Monday Ladies Morning and Monday evening Rusty Rackets (which has now hit a record of 8 attendees).
We also worked hard with the Club Committee, Rowan Morgan-Odell, James Andrews and his webteam to add up to date and relevant content to the club website and begin to integrate with the Sedlescombe Golf Club site.
And we sourced some good deals for the club on match balls and the new windbreaks which are working wonderfully to reduce glare from the car windscreens in the car park.
Your coaches are now having a couple of weeks break before continuing with an Autumn programme for the club, starting with Ladies Morning on Monday 5th September. We do hope we’ve delivered everything you wanted for the summer and a little more besides!
Looking forward to seeing you on court in the Autumn – perhaps we’ll see you at the
Mixed Tournament on Sunday 11th!
