I like the idea of the card, as a relatively new member i find it a nice place to chat to other members who may or may not have a different view than you. its relaxing and a nice environment to be in. i would much pefer to spend my money in there than at a garage on the way up to play or a vending machine. in my eyes i would have spent that money and more anyway. I can understand that some people dont want the card but feel they are being pushed into it, but being a member of a community/club means you have to put up with some things, such as a brilliant well kept course, nice people, good pros, spaces on the range, competions, and pre paying a food and bev card. new ideas(to this club) are a good thing, if it doesnt work then im sure they will stop it soon enough. But if its a majority thing, i think they should go ahead.
Just my opinion.

Im certainly not going to get into a "slanging match"with you about this "slapper"which is apparently what you want,(i DO use the clubhouse by the way.ask James)there's a simple way to see what members think about the social card-----ask them,ALL of them, but seeing as how the members were'nt asked about it's introduction this is unlikely to happen!!

Dear nobby,
am sorry if you feel that i was wanting a slanging match but you obviously misunderstood what i was saying '
IE' That i felt that it is a great idea for the golf club and the members in the long run,
As for the members not being asked I remember being in the club house at end of last year sometime when James did come and speak to about 40 or so members about the idea
It was received well by all that were there and majority said what a good idea it was'
I meant know offence to you personally if you want to come into the club house for a drink i would be more than pleased to see you there.
Happy golfing . :D

Hey mick, If people feel they don't want to be part of a golf club maybe they should go and play at pay and play courses' I really can not see what all the fuss is about Its only £30 quid and don't forget you get £34 back on a nice shiny black card witch could double as a windscreen scraper in the winter '
It would seem as though some folk don't really want to be part of a friendly club just come and rip the golf course up and expect everyone else to pay for it all.
If the golf club doesn't make money then it will all shut down like many have done in the past.
I for One would not like to see that happen at Sedlescombe I personally think its a great golf club quite friendly could be more friendly if people could see the bigger picture
Like Driving range loads of Professionals to help us all out at times,
Seven putting greens
chipping area
practice Bunkers,
18 hole course
and a 9 hole par 3 course
all of witch is in fair nick in my opinion.
I think its time we all tried to get along a bit better and enjoy the golf club and all it offers.

Ok - my turn -

I like the idea of the card, its a common enough feature at other golf clubs and a discount is always welcome but then I would typically spend more than £30 a year in the clubhouse anyway. Its not necessarily so good for flexi members though - I purchased 100 units for my wife for 2011/2012 which would typically give her about 9 rounds during the year (about what she played last year) and the card purchase would mean she would be expected to spend about £4 in the clubhouse each time she played if she wanted to take full value from it. For me its not an issue (I'll use her card ! - I paid for it anyway!) but it may annoy other flexi members who are trying to fine tune their membership fees to the number of times they play.

I haven't seen any information as to what is expected to happen with with these cards at start of the next year (2012/2013). Would we just retain our present card, keeping it in credit; would we be expected to top it up back to £30 or would we be expected to put an additional £30 on the card ? Anyone know?
